Sunday Lunch in Devon and Cornwall
Sunday lunch is a great British institution. Roast beef, Yorkshire pudding, and all the trimming. And Devon and Cornwall of course has plenty of great places to enjoy Sunday lunch - whether you live here or are just visiting.
This page is very much "under construction". But we'll add more Sunday lunch places as quickly as we can.
You can help us with this. Send us your own suggestions of great places to have Sunday lunch in Devon and Cornwall, and we'll consider them for inclusion in this section. A few words to describe your favourite Sunday lunch place, and maybe even a photo, would help! Contact us at

The Falcon Inn Bude, Cornwall
The Falcon Inn is part of the Falcon Hotel in Bude. It's a very warm and friendly pub-type place, serving very ample portions of roast meats with all the trimmings, including a nice selection of vegetables served in separate dishes. Starters are nice too - our favourite being the mackerel goujons (one portion between two is probably enough). After lunch, there are plenty of nice walks to enjoy - either along the canal or out to the beach which is within easy walking distance. Visit their website
The Beach Hut Watergate Bay, Cornwall
The Beach Hut looks out over the stunning beach at Watergate Bay (downstairs from Jamie Oliver's Fifteen Cornwall restaurant). We've eaten here, but not Sunday lunch as yet. But the location alone makes it worth a visit, and their Sunday lunch at £10.95 for two courses (at the time of writing) we reckon is worth a try. According to the website, they have a choice of meats, all served with thyme roasted potatoes, honey roasted root vegetables, Savoy cabbage and gravy. Yum! And after your lunch, you can either take an energetic walk along the beach and/or enjoy coffee in the sea-view lounge area of the Watergate Bay Hotel next door. Visit their website
Toby Carvery Plymouth and Exeter, Devon
Okay, we accept that as a national chain, Toby Carveries may not be quite in the spirit of simplydevonandcornwall.com. But to be fair, they do offer exceptionally yummy roast joints carved to order, with a fab choice of fresh vegetables and trimmings, at great value prices. And you can go back for more veg, gravy etc until you are completely stuffed. Worth a thought anyway! Visit their website
Bodmin Jail Bodmin, Cornwall
Bodmin Jail doesn't lock people up these days, but it does offer a rather delicious Sunday lunch for under eight quid, including generous portions of fresh veg and commendable gravy. After lunch, you may want to pay a visit to the delightful Bodmin and Wenford Railway which is just up the road. Alternatively you can enjoy a tour around the jail itself (check their website for more information) which will be sure to give you indigestion! Visit their website
