A good city hotel with great sea views.
On the surface of it, the Holiday Inn Plymouth is a fairly standard "chain" hotel, but in a rather superb location!
The Holiday Inn overlooks the famous Plymouth Hoe. The clever arrangement of the hotel means that the main bar, lounge and restaurant are on the top floor, with amazing views over the city, Plymouth Hoe, and the sea beyond.
The bedrooms have been recently upgraded, and are well-equipped and comfortable.
The hotel's leisure centre includes a good-size swimming pool.
Plymouth is an excellent choice for a city-break in Devon (or as a stopover if you are catching the Brittany Ferries services to Roscoff or Santander). The city centre has all the usual chain stores, the large Drake Circus indoor shopping mall, and some interesting independent shops in the West End of the city centre. Take a walk from the Holiday Inn Plymouth across the stunning Plymouth Hoe and around to the historic Barbican area, crammed with small shops, restaurants and bars. The up-and-coming Sutton Harbour area makes for a delightful stroll, particularly on a summer's evening when the twinkling lights from the yachts in the marina make a lovely backdrop for the waterfront bars and restaurants.
